About

Hello! My name is Erin Tapnio and I am a school psychologist turned UX/UI designer.

Going through the design process and seeing the end product come to life are my favorite parts of being a UX designer. Many skills that I developed from being a school psychologist translate well into being a UX designer. Skills include: problem solving, observing user behavior, and collaborating with colleagues of different disciplines.

It was important for me as a school psychologist to be inclusive and empathetic, especially when working with a diverse group of students. These skills are also important in UX design when working with users of different perspectives and life experiences.

My Values:

  • Open-mindedness: From my experience working at a school, I have grown to have an open mind to many possibilities and not to be quick to judge or assume.

  • Communication is important when working in a team. I have learned that having time to air out any difficulties or lay out expectations helps with team comradery and resilience.

  • Adaptability: Adapting to new situations is crucial as a UX designer and a school psychologist as things are always changing or need to be changed.
